LovingCounty is a band that has its roots in Americana music. The band deals in heavy rock and ballads, all delivered in a solid open style with room for improvisation.
The songs are often driven by the vibe of the moment.
LovingCounty was founded by Jos (vocals, guitar) and Erik (guitar) after hearing the music of Jon Dee Graham.
Jon Dee Graham is an Americana musician from Texas with a compelling style of songwriting. Two of his songs are in our repertoire.
In recent years the band has had different formations and has also been inactive for some time.
Yet time and again the love for good songs and honest guitar music brings us together again.
The current line-up with Alfred on drums and Ferjo on bass has been active since autumn 2017. With renewed enthusiasm we are now working on putting on a strong show of our own work and covers with our own twist.
In June 2018, our solo guitarist Erik suddenly passed away.
The question was... What next?
Erik was a determining factor within the band.
We didn't know how to continue without him...
Fortunately, in February 2019 we found Bram (Jos' son) willing to take over the difficult task of replacing Erik, which he tackled with gusto.
In August 2020 Wiebe, a childhood friend and guitar buddy of Bram's, asked if he could attend a rehearsal and play with us sometime...
He never left...
Jos' characteristic voice with his beautiful acoustic guitar and dobro together with the interplay between our two lead guitarists and the solid support of Alfred and Ferjo as rhythm section deliver beautiful, quiet ballads as well as heavy rock and bluesy songs.
Lately we have been focusing mainly on releasing our own work. We can also be found on Spotify and Apple Music.
Jos is a very creative songwriter/composer and the band complements this with its characteristic sound.
In addition, covers by Jon Dee Graham, Tony Joe White, Neil Young and Charlie Robison, among others, reflect the character of our music.
The name of the band comes from the song "Loving County", a cinematic murder ballad by Charlie Robison, which is of course also in our repertoire.
